Former Illinois Basketball Star Makes Impact Off Bench
Former Illinois Basketball Star, Ayo Dosunmu, had another nice night off the bench for the Chicago Bulls. The Bulls played the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday night and Dosunmu provided great perimeter defense and efficient scoring. The 3rd year NBA guard put up 21 points on 8-9 shooting and 4 assists in 29 minutes. Ayo is starting to settle into his role off the bench. After a span of limited minutes to start the season, Dosunmu is starting to become one of the Bulls’ key cogs off the bench.
With Patrick Williams and Torrey Craig sidelined with injury, Ayo should continue to keep his role off the bench. He provides a lot more length and playmaking compared to the other guard off the bench, Jevon Carter.
Continuously improving
Ayo Dosunmu will always show a strong work ethic. There have been so many instances throughout his young career in which he has been counted out and told that he was limited. Dosunmu continues to improve his half-court game and his strength. These were two facets of his game that needed work after his Sophomore year in the NBA. The Chicago Bulls are still a frustrating watch. They continue to roll around in mediocrity after giving Zach Lavine and Lonzo Ball a significant amount of money.
Unfortunately, the Chicago Bulls are stuck where they are. They will continue to try to maximize their current core, however, most fans know the limits of that. Despite this, Ayo Dosunmu and Coby White have turned into some exciting young prospects who continue to thrive and improve their games. Ayo Dosunmu has averaged 10.7 points on 49 percent field goal percentage and 47.8 three point percentage in the month of January. If Dosunmu can continue this production, his stock will continue to rise off the bench.
