New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley is eager to play postseason football once again.
The former Offensive Rookie of the Year mentioned his desire to return to the playoffs in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Nothing like playoff football! I gotta get back!!

Barkley is set to become an unrestricted free agent in March after spending the 2023 season with the Giants, who were only able to muster a record of 6-11. New York made the playoffs in 2022, defeating the Minnesota Vikings in the wild card round before falling to the eventual NFC Champion-Philadelphia Eagles in a divisional matchup between the two teams.
The 26-year-old’s future with the organization is murky after the two sides failed to reach an agreement on a long-term contract before the start of the 2023 season, settling for a one-year adjusted franchise tag worth just over $10 million to remain with the team instead (per Spotrac).
However, Barkley wasn’t pleased with the result and didn’t appear thrilled with the idea of playing another year on the team without long-term job security.
“They did it last year. So, I’m numb to it,” Barkley told reporters at the end of the regular season, via Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post. “I don’t have any feelings toward that at all. If you’re going to do it, just don’t wait until March 5. Just get it over with. If not, let me go. Simple.”
However, Giants general manager Joe Schoen confirmed that tagging Barkley again is an option that the front office will consider although no decision has been made.
“That’s an option we have on the table,” said Schoen. “We’ll have those conversations. I’m not saying we will or we won’t.”
In 14 starts throughout his 2023 campaign, Barkley amassed 962 rush yards and six touchdowns on 247 attempts. He remained effective as an option in the pass game, hauling in 41 catches for 280 yards while finding the end zone four more times as a receiver.
