Bruce Brown had nothing but praise for Scottie Barnes after making his debut with the Toronto Raptors on Thursday night. Although the Raptors lost to the Chicago Bulls 116-110, Barnes put on a dominant performance.
Barnes ended the game with 31 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists last night. In his postgame interview, Brown took the time to call Barnes a ‘superstar’ in the league.
“Scottie Barnes is a dog. He’s a top-tier superstar in this league. He can do everything. Last year he didn’t shoot the ball well and this year you have to respect it.”
Bruce Brown said after the game
There is no denying that Barnes has leaped this season. The Raptors have officially given Barnes control of the team with the trades of O.G. Anunoby and Pascal Siakam within the last three weeks.
Brown has played with Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Tyrese Haliburton, Nikola Jokic, and more in his last few seasons. He knows a thing or two about playing with superstar talent. It will be interesting to see what Barnes does as the franchise centerpiece over the next few seasons.
Barnes is playing at an All-Star level with the Raptors this season. In his 42 games played, Barnes has averaged 20,4 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game. He is also a very solid defender who loves to take the challenge of guarding the opposing team’s best players.
“He gets anywhere he wants and he can guard one through five, so I think he’s a superstar in this league.”
Bruce Brown
With all the assets the Raptors have acquired in recent years, the team will be more than capable of surrounding Barnes with talent. The sky truly is the limit for Barnes.
