Former Pittsburgh Steelers Once Promising 1st Rounder Is Heading To One Of Their Division Rivals

The Pittsburgh Steelers stole linebacker Patrick Queen from their division rival, the Baltimore Ravens, earlier this week. They saw the Cleveland Browns take on one of their former linebackers, Devin Bush.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Cleveland Browns are signing Bush to a one-year deal. Ezoic

The Pittsburgh Steelers traded up from 20 to 10 in the first round of the NFL Draft with the Denver Broncos to take Bush in 2019, giving up picks 20 and 52 and a 2020 third-rounder. After Bush’s first season, it looked like a great trade.

Bush finished with over 100 tackles and finished third in Defensive Rookie of the Year voting, but a knee injury in year two only let him play in five games. His career with the Pittsburgh Steelers came crashing down the next two seasons, and he found himself in Seattle last year. Ezoic

The Browns Needed Linebacker Help

The Browns do need linebacker help since they saw Anthony Walker Jr and Sione Takitaki leave this offseason, and the team has only brought in Jordan Hicks. Ezoic

Bush will likely serve as a rotational linebacker for the Browns and play in different packages.

It’s always weird to see a former player leave a rival team for the other, and we have seen it a few times this offseason with Queen leaving the Ravens for the Steelers, and a big one was Saquon Barkley leaving the New York Giants to join the Philadelphia Eagles.

Bush will be able to bring his knowledge to the Browns and Steelers rivalry from being on the other side of it, and hopefully, for the Browns, he can get back to his rookie self.
