The Seattle Seahawks continue the transformation of their roster as the offseason begins to pick up steam. Head coach Mike Macdonald has begun speeding up the completion of his coaching staff so he can start working on the team’s strategy to win the NFC West.
The latest news on the status of Macdonald’s coaching staff has broken through, and there are new acquisitions that could transform the team’s offense and ease the burden on DK Metcalf.
Seattle Seahawks hire Mack Brown and Nick Perry as coaches
Pro Football Talk’s Charean Williams reported that the Seattle Seahawks poached from the New York Jets and Atlanta Falcons to acquire Mack Brown and Nick Perry.

He wrote about the experience the two had before signing with he Seattle Seahawks:
Brown spent the past five seasons with the Jets. He was a defensive assistant for two seasons before becoming an offensive assistant. He worked with the linebackers for two years and the receivers three years.
Brown also worked with the Jets’ tight ends in 2023.
Perry spent the past three seasons with the Falcons, first as an assistant defensive backs coach (2021-22) and then as assistant receivers coach (2023).
The two have obvious coaching pedigrees that warrant a position in the Seattle Seahawks coaching staff, and they’ll bring great quality to a team that badly needs help on other aspects of their game. The fact that the two coaches have prior experience in coaching both offensive and defensive players point to the possibility that they’ll be all-around coaches for Macdonald’s coaching staff.Ezoic
Brown will take over as the tight ends coach, a position that greatly underperformed in 2023. Noah Fant was an effective TE during Pete Carroll’s final year, but his contract situation with the team is tricky. If the team manages to keep his services, Fant, Will Dissly, and Colby Parkinson will benefit hugely from his experience.

Meanwhile, Perry will take over one of their defensive staff positions. Macdonald is a great defensive mind, but having Perry in the team will help him better understand WR tendencies and create plans that could help the secondary perform better against teams like the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers.
The staff is as vital as the players when it comes to winning football games. Macdonald hopes that the first hirings he made as Seattle Seahawks head coach will help him get off the ground running.
