Seattle Seahawks Set to Sign Safety Rayshawn Jenkins and Try Replace 2 Starters

The Seattle Seahawks are set to sign a deal with safety Rayshawn Jenkins. Jeremy Fowler reports that the agreement is two years and worth $12 million. $6.6 million in year one.
The Seattle Seahawks cleaned out the safety room this offseason, cutting Jamal Adams and Quandre Diggs. Both of these former starters on the Seahawk defense didn’t fit Mike Macdonald’s picture for the future.

Seattle Seahawks Cut Safeties
Jamal Adams was a letdown, to say the least. When he was on the field, he created a buzz that was hard to replicate. The problem is Adams never played a full season for Seattle. He played 36 games over four seasons.

Quandre Diggs was another disappointment. Diggs did have 94 tackles for the Seahawks, but Pro Football Focus gave him a 55 overall grade for his 2023 season.

Both safeties were cut before the start of the 2024 season.

Rayshawn Jenkins to Replace 2 Safeties
Jenkins is only one man and will not be the only one asked to replace both recently cut safeties. Julian Love is still on the Seahawks’ roster, and Coby Bryant will provide depth along with other roles within the defense.

Rayshawn Jenkins will step into the free safety role for the Seahawks. Jenkins enters his eighth professional season. He grades slightly above Diggs’ 2023 season but comes at a much more affordable price.

When the Seahawks cut Adams and Diggs, they created $17 million in cap space. Diggs specifically cleared $11 million in cap space on his release. Rayshawn Jenkins looks to be $6.6 million this year—half the price for a higher-graded player.
